When I first learned math, I thought math was just about arithmetic, you know, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. However, as those geometric shapes popped in and those algebraic variables kicked in, I knew there are much more than just arithmetic. Even now, I can’t say I know everything there is in math, but certainly I can say I know more than most people. Yet, arithmetic is still the foundation of mathematics. If you do good in arithmetic, you will do better in other area of math. |
