Hi, everyone, welcome to my website. My name is Hai He. I was born in Guangzhou, China in 1975. I moved to the United States when I was 12 years old. At age 18, I became a citizen of the United States. I live in Manhattan, New York.

My mathematical talent was not discovered until age of five and it was by accident. You see, my mother always thought my older brother was the smarter one and she forced him to recite the times table at age of seven when he was in first grade. When she thought him had memorized the times table, she asked him to recite it. He struggled through and at some point he gave up. Then I cut in and finished the whole times table. Since then, my mother taught me how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, you know, the basics.

My mathematical talent was also discovered by my teachers when I was in elementary school. I was sent to competitions three times and each time I won an award.

The last thing I learned before I came to the States is how to solve linear equations simultaneously. Sometimes, when I was tutoring high school and college students on the topic, I said to myself, “I can’t believe I did this when I was 12.”

I was graduated from Stuyvesant High School, one of the most prestigious high schools in New York City in 1993 with average of over 97 in math. In college, I majored in math. My GPA is 4.0 in my major (3.7 overall). I received a Masters degree in Secondary School Education in Mathematics from Hunter College. I also recently passed all the required state teacher certification exams and obtained both the state and city teaching licenses.
